Hey,

Getting some weird interference patterns in the shadows of my footage.  The settings were set to Auto here. Shot in 4K 30 fps.

This footage was recorded onto my phone but it also turned up on the SD card from the actual drone.

Shadows have been lifted to highlight the effect.

Any ideas what might be going on here?  Could it possibly be a defective unit?

I am convinced that what you can see is propeller shadows. It happens to most when the sun is at a certain height and angle, relative to the camera. Nothing wrong with your device.

Hey,

THanks for the reply but it's definitely not propellor shadow.

To see exactly what I am talking about, watch my video from about 1:04 and look in the shadows of the mountains.  You can see a rolling pattern appear mostly in the shadows (check out frame left) that looks very similar to the effect some light sources have at certain shutter speeds with a rolling shutter.

Well, I still believe it is. If you don't, send it in for repair.

Given the angle of the sun relative to the aircraft, I would assume propellor shadows as well.

It’s propeller shadow, my Phantom was notorious for this. What sucks is I won’t notice it on the phone, but later in the 4K files it’s bad.

I also noticed that the footage is quite high in graininess, which I saw in my M2P every now and then as well.
Not sure why. I'm sure your ISO setting is quite low, perhaps, at 100?
