Hello friends,
Yesterday I went through an unprecedented problem with the Mavic Mini: Despite being in a very open area, the amount oscillated between 6 and 8 satellites. After mark his home point, I flew up, and when he reached 11m he lost his satellites (going to 7 and 6) and came back, before losing to the wind.
Some things I noticed:
  • The DJI Fly app did not request a compass or IMU calibration
  • It took a long time (about 3 minutes) to reach the 8 minimum satellites.
I did the compass and IMU calibration, and after the drone restarted, in just over 20 seconds it marked the 8 satellites and arrived at normal average of 15 satellites.

I leave this tip, in case you notice that the drone is taking too long or is having trouble capturing the satellites.

Hugs for all

Hmmmmmm. Never had that happen. Was there a lot of KP (Solar flare) and or was it heavily covered with clouds? Maybe some more experienced members could know why.

And thamks for the solution!

I did the compass and IMU calibration,
That was unnecessary.

Neither has any effect on GPS or satellite acquisition.

and after the drone restarted, in just over 20 seconds it marked the 8 satellites and arrived at normal average of 15 satellites.

That's because your drone's GPS receiver knew where the sats were and was able to do a "warm start" which is always much faster than starting when it has no GPS imformation to help it start faster.

Neither has any measurable effect on your drone's GPS reception.
If clouds stopped GPS, cars, planes and ships would have a lot of problems.

That IS true. Thanks for the correction.

Thanks friends for the feedback. I forgot to inform, the sky was cloudless and the index Kp = 1 (UAV Forecast).
I just did these procedures because they are the only ones available at the moment and they worked, now, because it worked, I honestly have no idea where the failure came from. Making a stupid analogy, it is as if the car "chokes" and turning the engine off and on the problem disappears, without knowing why.
