Well perhaps the CAA (in the UK) deserve a small Christmas card. Because it would apear that you can now fly your sub 250g Drone legally over built up areas as from the 1st Jan 2021.

I am sure this will sporn several posts from people who like to copy and past rules into threads and those in the US that dont realise there is a world outside their shores.

Either way I think this is a little bit of good news.... Try not to drag this thread over to the dark side of the piece of paper... Try to keep in the light

It has 2 sides.
a. yes, it is positive for pilots.
b. it is also negative because it could lead to more strict rules because pilots don't realize that people don't like drones over their gardens and start complaining. Which eventually will lead to more (strict) rules.

So if pilots fly responsible, it could be positive. But judging by the many stupid videos you see online I have my doubts.

How long will it be before someone in the UK does something silly and spoils this for us.

In light of recent developments with the coronavirus in the UK, non-locals will definitely have no problems registering in 2021.

Indeed,   they probably are messing it up for the rest of us.

I was going to buy a MA2 but after reading about the rule relaxation for sub 250g I bought a Mini 2.  Finally we have a MUCH larger area to explore and photograph  - whilst of course still being respectful to privacy etc.
