Hi everyone,


it seems like I'm having an issue with the brand new Mavic 3 (Fly more combo) and the zooming feature.

Won't zoom in more then x 7 and the image/video is completely out of focus.

At x7 the live image and the recorded footage starts to flicker like the gimbal would move. Yet it does not.

The lens is completely clear and removal and putting back on the filter did not solve the issue.


Restarting did not help either. Otherwise no error message within DJY Fly.


Is that a hardware or software problem? How can it be fixed?

First no zoom, then progress zooming until 7x, error appears at the same time.

Maybe do a test on something else that isn’t the sky .

I did that with other things - tried with the moon, trees, my shoes and so on.
Issue persisted and I could not change focus - unsharp even in infinity setting (mountain symbol).
Please guys help out.

What I meant was make it easy for us to see this happen, then can give our opinion.

Please have a look at the video. The strange behaviour is visible at 10 sec.

Even if the image would be unsharp - one would have some sky / clouds there.
All I can see from 10 sec on is flickering and a grey image.

What else would you need ?

I don't see it. Are you referring to the blurriness of digital zoom?

Yes to the blurry image and to the fact that at 7x zoom there is no more image but grey flickering screen.

To make a fair judgement put up a video that shows this more clearly thats all I ask, there is almost nothing contrasting here to make a correct opinion.I’m not saying there is nothing wrong but I would like to see what’s happening clearly….

Ok - will try. But I predict that image will dissappear at 7x magnification no matter how much contrast there was. From there all will be gittering and moving like in the video above starting from 10 sec. on

Could be auto focus on a low contrast sky, or could be a bug in the software. By the way thing is now with this release, I would wait until the new firmware is released and check again.

Sharpness until 7x magification is not too bad.

I do not have that problem. Mine looks ok up to 28x. And I am using an unapproved Samsung Galaxy S8 phone.

This video is not processed to HD or 4k yet at this time.

Auto focus needs more contrast to work well.

Mine does not even go to 28x zoom.

At 7x the image goes completely blur and starts to flicker. See two videos above.

What could I do? Send back for repair?

Seeing the huge noise from your video start wondering how DJI filmed the scenes they had on launch video...because seems to be impossible to have that quality in night even after post processing with this noise...I know that the company that made the video is a PRO, but at that noise you get some limitations that cannot be passed only with video editing and noise reduction....
I am the only one thinking at something dirty, like the scenes were filmed with other thing than M3 camera...?

Oh dear, doesn't look good. If I'm understanding the your videos correctly, you shoot at 1x, 2x, maybe 4x then 7x, etc. Correct me if I'm wrong. Now 7x and above are just digital zooms of the tele camera image, where as below 7x you are seeing digital zooms of the main cam.

It looks to me like your tele camera is damaged. Obviously light is getting to the sensor but the focus is completely kaput!

I'd say it needs replacing. Can you see anything odd looking into the lens barrel? Maybe not with it being quite a small unit

It was very late in the day with a lot of clouds. Not the best situation to use a digital zoom. Note how the image improved as it switched to the first zoom camera setting.

I tried re-uploading the latest firmware with the DJI Assistant.

But still did not solve the problem unfortunately.

I'll try contact the Service Team tomorrow. Then let you know what they suggested.
Yet very frustrating...

Try focusing on some THING at a distance instead of clouds and a closeup object!! Neither of the things you recorded allow the camera to focus at max zoom.

The camera won't focus on max zoom, because zoom >4 won't be reached without the image getting los.

Did you have any issues with the return process?

Glad to see you've got the return process started. It almost looks like there's an element missing from the lens, the focus is so far out. You can see that the colour of the "blank" image is approximately what you might expect if you averaged everything on the good image from the main camera. Here's hoping you get it replaced quickly.

I have a similar problem with zoom camera after the last firmware update.  Before that everything worked well.  Now I don't know what to do with it. Firmware downgrade doesn't help.

Mine does the same thing. Just a blur at 7x zoom. Has worked on occasion, but now it's no go.

I wrote to support and waiting for an answer. The situation with the telecamera was very upsetting.
Did you experience this after a firmware update (01.00.0600)) or earlier?

I'm not sure, but I suspect so. When I increase the zoom, image goes to a blur & focus icon changes to a flower. There has been no mishandling of Drone. I believe it is a s/w glitch.

I also noticed that autofocus turns off at 7x and only manual focus mode becomes available. Some kind of problem with autofocus on the zoom camera. I hope this is a software problem that will be fixed with the next firmware.

I always use manual focus in 7x mode (and above).  
The autofocus can't hit it that precisely, and it also constantly fluctuates back and forth...

No - worked smooth!
Just took a couple of weeks as they were on back order.

When I trying to downgrade and re-upgrade (there is no dependence on the specific firmware 01.00.0600, 01.00.0500, 01.00.0400... the zoom camera can start working on any of them), the zoom camera sometimes starts working normally... but after several time it stops working again. For example...  I downgraded the firmware to 01.00.0400  and updated first to version 01.00.0500 and then to 01.00.0600, the zoom camera started working on firmware 01.00.0600.

But today, I turning on the drone, the zoom camera does not work again... I rolled back the firmware to version 01.00.0500 and the zoom camera started working again... but this is not for long, after 1 hour  the situation will repeat.

That was nice, at 38 seconds I saw a fish jump out the water to the top right side.
