The area with the blue line around is the new zone they added for the mourning period.

Yes it’s for the queen.  They also stopped plane flights when she was moving to it would be quiet for her.

I thought it was a nice touch for her.

Wow, that is quite an expansion of the NFZ.  I'm assuming this is only temporary and deals with the Queen's passing.

Must be,  the queue to see her is over 4 miles long at the moment. I just checked to see when the best time to go will be.

Its 14 miles this morning and too big so they have closed the queue for a bit.   They have also extended the NFZ,   Its much bigger now.

Thats just for the funeral and anything flying under 2500ft.

Not if you're on one of the 200 affected flights and stand to lose work, holiday, connections or large amounts of money.

100+ cancelled, 180 at least delayed severely.

Worth noting this massive NFZ wont show up in DJI Geo so none of the drones will say don't fly.
So expect 100s of people flying illegally without knowing because they only look at DJI for restrictions.

ive heard the police has stepped up enforcement and also zero tolerance but i can't imagine the police resources are able to monitor such a large zone effectively.

There's no chance.  They'll likely have Aeroscope etc in the high security areas on the route but 15 miles away no chance.

They've dragged in police from all the country, still dont have enough and plenty of stabbings in London now as all resources are allocated elsewhere.

Its an insane size NFZ anyway.  Almost worth contesting with the CAA Airspace access appeal system.

Or at least check on Drone Deploy or similar before flying (which legally, checking for NOTAMs and restrictions they're supposed to do!).

But we all know most people arent even aware of that and if DJI say its good, its good.

Edit:- just noticed the CAA have paid for Twitter advertising mentioning the restrictions.  Thats nicely pro-active of them (even if the restrictions themselves are massively excessive).

Thats not the NFZ - That's Heathrow airport, totally on their own deciding to stop flights.

Its LHR not the CAA as there were no flight restrictions.  Its entirly LHR deciding it cant be arsed to fly passengers.

I know a few people affected by that circus.
Flight cancelled, no compensation as its beyond the airlines control, a missed connection and just shy of £1000 lost in one case.
Given 250 flights affected its tens of thousands of people in similar circumstances.

Seems a bit overkill to me.  And I bet we see footage from helicopters on TV on Monday which should be followng the NFZ too.
