Thank you!
@Depp
In summer, the wind hardly ever goes below 30 to 35 km/h. Every now and then the wind speed goes up to 85 km/h. This always happens abruptly from one second to the next.
With the drones we were often at the limit. The FPV flights were often so heavily banked that some of the footage was unusable.
You can't tell from the video. For the most part, it is only short occasions that could be used for filming. Often you can't fly at all because of wind, rain or too much fog. The clouds over the Atlantic simply rush unchecked through the islands, often reaching down to the sea surface. You have to plan and react spontaneously all the time. In return, you experience many breathtaking moments, but unfortunately you can't always film them with the drone because of the wind. Over the weeks, but still material comes together.
Depending on the weather, you can be stuck on the islands for several days, no longer comes back to the main island. Therefore, you should do the outer islands at the beginning of your trip and explore the main island more towards the end.
We found the landscape and the still often untouched nature gigantic.
We were there for three weeks, just because of the fickle weather and because sometimes purely nothing goes for days. Those were always the Netflix days and nights.
Many accommodations provide the full range of streaming providers free of charge :-)
You can be very lucky with only 7 days, but also go home without a single recording. Definitely plan enough days, you can't say that often enough, otherwise the trip becomes too much a matter of luck and at the end of the trip there is only frustration. |
