Hello everyone,

As an aerial professionnal videographer, I was wondering if there is rules for flying sUAV in Thailand for commercial purposes? I've contacted the Department of Civil Aviation but still got no answer to my questions, and documentation is hard to find on the web.

If there's anyone who would share knowledge, I would greatly appreciate !

Best

J.

Hi jstade,

From memory there were some very restrictive laws enacted in Thailand regarding UAV operations.
There is a bit out there with a quick google search.

"According to the Bangkok Post, Thai Transport Minister Prajin Juntong voiced concerns about civilians using drones to spy on others and said the devices are potential threats to air traffic. He was careful to differentiate between drone uses that “aid the country’s development” and personal drones, which will be more strictly controlled. Only businesses that require photography, such as media members and filmmakers, will be permitted to use drones that carry cameras, says Thai Civil Aviation Department Director-General Somchai Phiphutwat. All drone operators will have to seek permission directly from the transport minister before they fly, including members of the media."

Hi jstade,

Nothing sure at this time, but would be for french TV production company (documentary shoot). So no need of a  work permit as we would have all authorizations needed to shoot in several locations.
Maybe I misunderstood, do you mean aerial work permit ? If so how could I apply ?

Yes of course, but it will be ok for this as the production company will take care of the work permit for ground camera operation. My question is more about UAS flying rules, with a work permit.

Hi Slyone, you will have no problem.
A friend of mine just traveled to UK and back without issues.
Just take your batteries (depleted) and protected in carry on luggage

Hey Dundee,

When you say batteries to be depleted like 50% or down to 30%? I have the fire proof bags and I do plan to bring them in my hand carry rather then checking it in as I plan to check in my phantom as I have a  pretty good case http://goprofessionalcases.com/shopcases/gpc-dji-plus-3.html thinking this should be fine to check in. Will be my first trip on a plane with my P3 getting quite excited.

Thanks

Slyone
