A few shots taken with the DJI AVATA while in Hawaii.    Somehow I always end up flying over water...

Coastal scenes can be more interesting than those inland

Nice flying and what a beautiful location.   You do seem to enjoy flying over water.  I love to scuba dive so I'm looking at getting an underwater drone and trying out flying under water.

Beautiful footage and a much better coloured ocean that I had here.

I agree!  Probably why it's most of what I enjoy filming.

Yeah, must admit they do look pretty cool.  As long as you have a place to film and would probably say it's best if the water is very clear most of the time as well.  Otherwise, the footage probably isn't that interesting.

I hear ya. I live in NJ and it's nice.  But you can't beat those teal colors on the Big Island of Hawaii.  Funny thing is that it really depends on your location (even on the Big Island).  Not every beach has that crystal clear water.  So, really depends on your location.   Very clear on the Kailua-Kona side....huge waterfalls on the Hilo side but waters not as clear.

It's a day's drive to the coast and back for me

Looking to use it in several lakes that are fed by aquifers here in Florida.  Also I know of a couple of sunken ship sites where the water is fairly clear for the  most part.

Great video. I am a new Avata user and the manual says to not fly over water surfaces. Have you had any trouble doing this? I assume not but just curious

I personally have NOT had any issues flying over water.  I live in NJ and fairly close to the NJ Beaches.  I fly along the shore lines (over the water) all the time without an issue.  I believe it's NOT an issue for me because the ocean waves and color of the water don't create an issue for me.  I think most people that run into an issue are flying over 'clearer' water which may cast a reflection causing issues with the visual sensors.  I've lost drones to the Ocean but never because I was flying to close to the water.  It was mostly user error.     Enjoy the Avata..it's a top notch drone.  Fly it all the time....
