In area we usually have more winter fires than other times of the year BUT with all the rain leading into winter we had abnormal grass growth. Everybody is now on tenterhooks going into summer.
I have referred to an old movie about the problem with Africa Love Grass.
I have the distinction of having melted the siren on the front of the truck but hey, it still worked

Yes,   thats not good,  we had a big fire near here like that last year.  The local press used my video of it in the end which was nice.  

Such devastation, Bruce. Those wildfires are a menace.  It all looks so arid in your panning  shots. I have to remind myself that you're in Winter down-under. Or is this old footage you just edited and posted?

Nah Blériot last Monday/Tuesday (07-08/08). Must say it doesn't take much to get it going.  Oh well it's always something I guess.

We've just had a week's excursion. I'm sorting through the footage now and posting occasional snippets.

Sad to see, but well captured!

Think I'm over it Peter. Two major fires (653 & 1157 ha) in the last couple of weeks and a few smaller ones. Severely impacting my flying time.
