Has anyone done this before? I searched and found one guy who did said it was fine.  

Stock has two ufl in one antenna, was wondering if I just use one 5.8ghz antenna if it would be an issue?

I think JB once said that running the O3 (and the Vista?) without an antenna wouldn't fry it so maybe it works. I would be surprised if they can give one antenna full power and the other (almost) none...

I'd be careful not to fry the board.  I'm sure there's some protection to take the frequency range without an antenna, but I think you are taking a risk.
