I wonder if you could do that from the ground and then blend it in later like you with the logo.

I think it would be difficult to do accurately.
First you'd need a 24mm lens on a camera and then you'd need to be at the same height as the drone.

I do have a panoramic head for my camera/tripod, so could just reshoot the scene at a lower level.

I had a fantastic day on the water with the jet ski.  I had no crashes but I came upon one where another jetski'er has just plowed into a dock.  Not sure what caused the crash it but he was mostly only shaken up and was okay but his jetski was badly damaged.

Yeah, the lens distortion, combined with the obvious parallax problem when the lens is not 'the center of the movement' will cause problems with stitching.

I've tried other software, but they seem useless.

Ah, I have tried that one too in the past. But I found it too expensive for the hobby user I am.

I get your drift.
And I still have a few of those, but I'm trying to stick to paying the makers if I want to use the software these days. Unless there is no good and affordable alternative.
For now I'm using Autopano Pro. Discontinued. But it still works.

I think they are quite similar, if I remember PTGui correctly from long ago.
