Hello everybody,
after upgrading to firmware 1.40 i noticed that my Phantom 3 needs signifiicantly longer time (more than 1 minute) for warming up.
Is this normal?
Thanks

No, it is not normal.  I have run into the same situation.  Re-Calibration of IMU is the only solution

Emphasis on COLD.  Put it on an air conditioner vent and cool it down.  Better yet, I did mine when the outside temp was 37 degrees (F).  Warmup is now seconds, not minutes.

calibration in a cool or cold environment will normally do the trick.  But, remember calibrating in a hot environment or when the phantom is fairly warm or hot, will possibly not correct the problem of warming up time

When i did the IMU calibration, the room was cold - i think that i had aircondition, but not sure. In anycase the Phantom turned on only for calibration and the battery was also cold. Anyway i will try recalibration in a cold environment and i will come back.
Thanks for helping ;)

I have heard other threads suggest putting the P3P in the fridge or freezer for 15 min or so before calibrating the IMU just for this reason.

i need to do this as mine takes a while to get going now - never had the issue at the start but I recalibrated after the last update and its now doing - I live in england so thought it would be gold enough on any day to do this but going to try the fridge for 15 mins when there is room - do you put both the bird and the battery in the fridge?

Emphasis on COLD???? 37C is 98.6 F - that's cold?
What did I miss?

UPDATE - I think I understand what you were inferring - it was pretty hot out, you put in/on a cold environment and itmade all the difference in the world?

also, make sure and do the calibration as soon as the phantom is turned on. As soon as the phantom is turned on the imu begins to heat up.

I just re did the IMU after 3 hours in the fridge (the bird, not me) and the warm up time is now less than a minute. Much better. Was around three minutes.

I would recommend the cold environment being an air conditioner not a refrigerator.  Refrigerator can have moisture and you don't want that getting into your electrical components.  Best idea is to set outside on a cool/dry night for about an hr.  Or put into an air conditioned room for an hr (battery installed too, for a little more overall coolness).

Before you take your phantom out, make sure your tablet and controller are on and you are at the page where the SENSORs menu is...  Turn the phantom on....once it goes through its entire bootup sequence and you see that the bird is ready on your controller is connected, hit the IMU calibration and let it go.

Hello to everybody and thanks for your help.
I recalibrated the IMU in a cold environment (air-conditioned the room to 18 Celcius for about 20 minutes before starting calibration) and the problem seems solved now.
Keep flying

My P3 Pro takes a couple minutes to warm up so I did an IMU calibration, this time after a 30 minute fridge nap. What should the numbers be on the calibrate screen when it is properly dialed in?

Thanks
