Do you know how to download the firmware zipped file from @DJI
and place it into root of the included micro sd card, in the camera gimbal?
Which Phantom 3 model are we discussing here?
Have you already checked to see which version the quad copter currently holds?

Yeah, No, it's a little more involved than that.
If you have any concerns, difficulties or questions there is always somebody here to help.

Once you have the bare bin file on the sd card, place it back into the gimbal, turn on the Phantom by itself and let it beep. Hahaha
When the beeping changes, after about 15 mins it should be done.
You can also pay attention to the lights on the front of the gimbal, they will blink green and red during the update.

You also need to cycle all your batteries through the update,

This means leaving the update file in the root directory of your SD and power cycling the phantom with each battery inserted. there is no other way to update the batteries.

I believe he said "Battery" singlular. Only one to work with. ;-)
But yeah, they would all need the 'heat treatment'.

Hi ,
Please download the firmware to the SD card to get battery updated .  

Can I do this update by using the usb cable provided with my p3p as show on the DJI tutorial or do I need to remove the SD card from the aircrafy and download the update directly and place the card back into the aircraft to finish the update

I am getting my Phantom 3 Standard today.  Very excited.  But if I understand the update process correctly for the Standard it can only be done through the DJO Go app.  There is no download for firmware on the DJI site for the Standard.

Is this correct?  And if so does that do the battery as well.

Correct, all updates for the Standard are done via the DJI GO app. Just follow the "Firmware Update" tutorial video  in the Academy page of the app.
Also, watch the other tutorial videos and it will answer questions and give you guidance on different aspects of you new aircraft.

Just be patient and learn as much as you can before heading up in the sky.
This is a really great video that will get you the best range.
