I just want to share a video demonstration showing the function of the low battery Return-to-Home (RTH) from the DJI Phantom 3. I used a Phantom 3 Standard for the video.

i would be worried about it being critically low and having to ascend so high to come home.. would stink if it used to much power to get to the proper altitude for failsafe.

Yes, that is true @Dewayt, sometimes I changed the failsafe altitude depend on the surrounding conditions, but mostly higher than 80 m, thanks...

Great video.
I set my RTH altitude anytime I fly in a different area. That way if flying in an open field there's no reason to expend battery juice by ascending too high.
BUT, if you set a low RTH when in an open field, you cannot forget when flying with tall objects around.

Yes, make that part of your preflight checklist.
You would not believe how many crashed have happened when someone flew behind a skyscraper and lost signal and RTH is started and the aircraft crashes into the side of the building.
Always remember know where you are going to fly and set the RTH altitude higher than the tallest structure in your flight path.

I think if I had to set my altitude for a higher setting that it might be a good idea to set your low voltage to maybe 35% just for a little more time to get home.

I hadn't that about that. I've had mine for about 3 days now and yesterday I changed my RTH Alt. to 360 Ft. it's not crazy high but I would hate myself if it did waste battery climbing too high if not required. Thnaks
