I was out flying today (well, trying to, but that's  another  story).  While I was setting up, a guy approached me and told me about a phantom 3 pro he found a while back.  He had a friend examine the SD card, and found a video dated November 2015.  The video has an image of  the pilot and the pilot's car, but the license isn't legible.  He said the phantom appears undamaged.

If you lost a P3P in northern California, reply to this post and identify the area where you lost it. I will put you in touch with the party who has it.

Does it have an FAA number on it? Too bad you can't find the owner with that. :-)

he more than likely wasn't registered or if it was, they didn't properly label the drone as required to.   Really sucks for him not following the law(and basic common sense to mark with contact info).  cost him the drone =/

I write my Registration number , cell number, and reward on my batteries   also i haven't gotten around to it yet but printing labels with same information and putting on all 4 of the legs.     may look stupid and sound stupid but may help reunite you with your drone if it gets lost.    because sometimes no matter how careful you are, failures happen.

I do have my cellphone number with a reward if found printed on it. I also just purchased a Trackimo GPS tracking device for mine. Can't wait to try it out. I'll feel a little safer out flying with it attached to my Phantom 3 Advanced.

Maybe DJI could help with that. Serial number should be connected to the e-mail, so DJI may contact with the person who connected last time.

DJI have said explicitly in another thread that they will not try to match a serial number with a registered owner.

Exactly what I was thinking. DJI should have a system to lookup serial numbers to track down the owner.

I have simple file called "owner.txt" which has my contact info saved on each of my miro SD cards just in case they get lost with or without the phantom.

What a great idea hummingbird.uav.  I think I may have to try that. Do you just re-load it every time you format your SD card?

There areally no identifying marks or labels on the found Phantom.  The guy who found it believes it was lost before the FAA'S rules were enacted in December.

Can the log files be checked? Do they hold gps info on flight record? I turn my p3p and fire the motors up(test) in my house all the time, find the flight log that has a stationary gps in a home and go to it/call it. I know it generates a flight log for the tablet, but is it saved on the phantom pro 3?

Still required though.  If he did register and mark it, it would be a way to track the owner down.  That IS the purpose of registration.

Yes but I rarely reformat the card, most often just copy the file to my PC and then erase them from the card.
