I just purchased a Phantom 4 and I am getting a red compass error. I have recalibrated compass and IMU, updated Firmware and still nothing will fix it. In the advanced settings it says the 2nd Compass is Disconnected!
Any help would be great Thanks!

I'm sorry you are having an issue, can you please post a screen shot?

I do not have a P4 with me, can you call tech support in the morning if you are un the US 818-235-0789.
If multiple calibrations will not get the #2 compass to read it may need to be sent in for repair.
I can talk to the the repair center tomorrow for advice.

Thanks for the help, I called DJI earlier today and they told me to send it in for an exchange...I was just making sure if there was any fix that any of you guys know about.

Hopefully you bought it from apple and you can just return it.Otherwise youre in for an adventure. The techs havent even figured out how to repair the P3s yet. God bless you.

If it does not give you a compass error and tells you to calibrate or restart the aircraft than I would think it would be ok.
BUT, I would need to verify with the repair center before committing to that answer.
So be on the safe side and lets wait until I get an answer.One thing you can try, maybe tap on the P4 a few times, slight possibility the compass is stuck. At least it's worth a try.

Tap the screen where it says "START" and that will initiate the compass calibration process.

Also, are you able to arm the motors?

I can not arm the motors.
I can not see a "start" icon, where exactly should I be looking.

I have successfully completed the compass error recovery
I was not exactly rolling the on screen prompted actions. Not wearing my reading glasses.
It starts fine now

Though to get old Next comes where the heck did I leave the darn things. And then you are looking all over for them and they are on top of your head. Done that a few times. Now I check there first.

Hello Ken, I have same problems, on the advanced settings the 2nd compass seems to be disconnected, I'm in Italy and I can't find assistance here, could you help me in some way ? We have two phantom 4 that needs to be used the end of the next week for the filming of the Jet Capsule, we hope to find a solution before the deadline !

Can you post a screen shot of that page. Do you see only one compass on both P4's ?What firmware are you on and if it's on both aircraft, try to delete/reinstall the app after syncing your flight records.

Hi Ken,
I'm attaching you two screenshots.
Of course I'm running on the latest firmware, but there's nothing I can do, the first calibration goes fine ,then on the second, when I have to rotate the Aircraft vertically gives me the error, It's strange because the Aircraft works fine in all the aspects but there's no way to remove the compass error.Tried already to contact assistance, filled everything, but not hear back from them !

I had those compass errors and it turned out to be a bad compass # 2 out of the sealed box.

I have a P4 for 3 weeks, flying well, all updates done. Today I had the same issue as shown above, compass 2 is disconnected. This morning I flew, with no issues, last flight, pressed the RTH button, came back, landed switched off and went to recharge the batteries. This afternoon, went out and had the compass error on compass 2.

Any suggestions to get it resolved?

If one of your compass sensors is disconnected, no amount of recalibration will fix it.

So does that mean I have to send it to DJI?

Ciao, ho letto che sei italiano... io da poco ho acquistato il mio primo drone Phantom 4 pro+. Ho notato che durante la calibrazione della bussola, precisamente quando bisogna ruotare il drone in verticale, la camera fa degli scatti bruschi, è normale? Anche perchè dopo aver eseguito il tutto correttamente la camera non resta in asse. Spero che mi potrai aiutare....  Grazie ciao!

Hey Ken,I'm also having this issue with my phantom 4,notice that I recently replace the landing gear for my drone,however the compass it's still under disconnected status.I had calibrate the compass many times, so Is there really another way instead sending back to DJI supports?Thanks

Yes, I had double check so many times already.The compass 1 is still disconnected,however compass 2 is running good with no any interference.Which I assume this might be a firmware issue since it's new and had never working before.(Notice that before I replace my landing gear,the compass 1 was running and I find that compass 2 was broken,which now I replace it and compass 1 had failed

The landing gear/compass1 and 2 are totally brand new

If it never worked from when it was brand new you should have sent it in back then.
I would send it back to be evaluated.
