Hi Guys,
Is there a way of updating P3P through the usb port and into my PC????? as I have no camera to update it (bird strike)
If yes any advice or a link on how to, would be great.

Hello Pommy, it is not available to upgrade the drone through the usb port.

If you do not have a camera (bird strike) then I wouldn't worry about updating. You are free to fly with whatever update you are on. DJI recommends being on the latest update, but after you get another camera then proceed with updating.

Only thing is like a fool!! I updated the remote first and then thought about the drone. Hopefully i will be able to roll back the firmware on the remote??

I like your sense of humor. You need a repair job on your P3P or grab a P4.

phantom 3 professional issue is : after unit sitting for a couple months, first outage had no camera. tried to upgrade firmware to 1.8 version (lates) with epic fail. Here is the following data as best as i can show and dji repair has said send it down but unit is not worth the money to send it down to US due to the low canadian dollar. (i expect to have to pay for the repair). here are the details as best as i can determine.

First of all the history of the unit, it was purchased in Sept 2015 in Vancouver BC from a store that is now closed. there has been 3 VERY light crashes (this is no exaggeration as in literally kissed a bit of brush about 6 to 10 feet up and landed in brush or grass) each time the only damage was prop nicks which were replaced immediately and the unit flown after every  crash with no problems. I put it away from roughly jan to around april or so and when I fired it back up it had no camera but it would fly including on GPS. So i put it back away for a few weeks and then recently i started to go about getting it in shape to operate with the nice weather. I took a look at the forums after doing the firmware upgrade method that i was used to with a failed result. I went throught re-formatting in the pc ...in the aircraft too as per suggestion with no luck. i have attempted downgrading the RC with no difference. calibrated the IMU with a laser transit shooting the level on a granite tool service with success (or so it said). All the wires from the gimbal to the aircraft appear intact under a magnifying lens. the connectors seem tight. The GO app is updated to the latest version. I attempted to back track and attempted the upgrade of the aircraft firmware. The file looks like it indicates fail but the version (below) shows on the app about screen as version 1.7.60+  I have re-attempted the upgrade to 1.8 again to no avail. Any help would be welcomed and even wild outside of the box  thinking might be tried, i really have nothing to lose at this point. I am not going to bash dji as there is no point. Whatever has been done is my responsibility. OK...what does the group think:

Anyway...i am at a loss and pretty sure it is junk but before i toss this entire package i  am hoping someone catches something i have missed. I figure the repair is going to be around the 800 dollar mark with no warrranty coverage with it and i would be likely better going with a different drone. I appreciate any help

Is your remote linked to you drone still???
If it is it might be the same problem I had? one of the wires from the camera go's to the receiver unit, the plug that the wire go's in was not attached to the board properly anymore it had come lose after a crash from a bird strike, I could only tell this after I had taken it apart. I tried a home fix but no good, tried a replacement board and all good now.

I see from your hidden log file that the video transmission module has been corrupted.
I'm sorry but you will need to send the aircraft in for repair.And yes, if you can start a new thread that would help.

Only thing is like a fool!! I updated the remote first and then thought about the drone. H ...

You can easily roll the RC back to 1.5.8
Aircraft powered OFF, RC powered on and connected to the app via USB cable.
From the homepage, hold down the graduation hat icon (top left) for 5-10 seconds and that will take you into the RC downgrade page. (make sure you have internet connection and downgrade to 1.5.8 and then you should have control of the aircraft. You shouldn't even have to relink the aircraft to the RC. The RC light should be green.

Hi sorry, im not very internet savy,my apologies for hijacking a thread as i didnt understand the concept..Im an old guy haha./..but i do have electronics techs at my disposal...unfortunately the costs of sending it to DJI is prohibitive to me up here in the Great White North. (US Dollar exchange rate plus cost of repair = I might as well buy a new one) But being as it is sitting here still, i may as well play around with it myself. I can get parts shipped here for a reasonable cost. So now my question is ...what part of the machine is the video transmission module located in? The gimbal? or the mainboard...or is it on its own. I am assuming that device 8 and 15 relate to it. The unit otherwise is excellent and i dont really have the DJI hater syndrome that seems to be prevalent...although i would like to drive my Jeep over it if it turns out that buying a new one is going to be the solution. If you reply here, i will try to check in regularly. I work in health care so keep weird hours.

I would say that if you want to fix it yourself, order another camera and a VPS and it may work. It can be either the camera or the OFDM in the VPS.
If you send it in the repair may be under warranty depending when you purchased your aircraft.

Hi Thanks Ken...aircraft was purchased in Vancouver Bc from a store that is long closed down now. I purchased when unit first came out August 2015 so long out of warranty...so...a camera/gimbal unit and VPS? or just the camera gimbal unit. I may as well try this before i go out an purchase and entire new unit. where is the VPS located..gimbal? or motherboard? or?

I said it may be the camera or OFDM or could be both.
IF you have a friend with the same aircraft that would be the easiest way instead of buying both and having it only be one.
The OFDM is in the VPS shell under your aircraft.
I still think it's less expensive if you sent it in to California for repair.
