Has anyone actually found a legit way to fix the range issues with the new firmware updates.... if so please share. My phantom 3 has been a sittting brick for months and I cannot fly pass 500ft when I was originally reaching 3000ft when I first started flying back in march 2016.

I have heard a lot of complaints about firmware v1.6.80 and range issues. Although some are saying that v1.7.90 has fixed that problem. I am getting 3696 feet with v1.7.90. Although I don't plan on upgrading ever again in the future.

Just to clarify, what's your aircraft model and the current firmware version?
Have you tried different locations and kept the antenna on the optimal range during flight?

hi. i had the same issue. sorry but that is board. i sent it for repair. and they will change board. i tried FCC mode. and change antenna of drone. but nothing.

I have phantom 3 standard v1.7.90 and yes I have tried different locations I fly in the same spot where I used to be able to fly 3000' no problem now 500' I get a RTH. What are my options???

Which board Harry? On the flight controller or on the Phantom?

I just got my P3S on Christmas, had to upgrade the firmware to v.1.7.90 before I could even fly.  I flew it 3 times and on the 3rd time, I was out barely 600 ft when it lost signal and started to RTH.  Problem now, is I had the RTH altitude at 100 ft, and it flew into a tree that was @ 120ft, and now is stuck 100 ft up in the tree.  My fault for not setting the RTH altitude higher, but DJI fault too for putting out such buggy firmware.  So now I own a tree ornament...
Any ideas on how to get my drone out of the tree?  Does one of these have enough lift to lift one out of a tree, if I could hook it with a treble hook on 5lb test line, dangling beneath another drone?

aircraft. that is like change your drone. that is the ploblem

If your drone was working just fine, and your range was really great, why did you update your firmware?
