I am newbie to Drone and testing out my Mavic at the moment. Going to bring my Mavic for a hike and trial run too, wonder if it can follow me at the front while I am running on the trail?

Going to try the follow me feature with auto height adj with Mavic following me at the back but equally wanted to see if this can do the same at the front.

Any special setting required?

Yes it will, but you have to go to settings first and allow the mavic to fly backwards. Caution, there is no obstical avoidance system in the back

Be aware the auto height setting only appears to work when going up hill and not down hill.

I was watching a guy trying to track himself skiing, the Mavic followed him horizontally but didn't lower its altitude. Not sure if the tracking using the Litchi app might be more successful.
