I've heard of some people flying at piedmont early morning before the park gets busy. no one wants drones buzzing over there head while enjoying the park.
Outside of piedmont park is almost impossible and restricted. Download the FAA app B4U Fly and it'll show pretty much all of midtown and downtown is a no-fly zone. Largely do in part to all the hospitals, police stations, building towers, with heliports and not to mention the airports. Don't forget gust of wind in between buidlings, wifi amd radio signal interfernce from builds and other structures...
Thanks devGOD for the detailed answer. I agree but I still doubt the legal accuracy of FAA's B4UFly App. Basically, every hotel helipad qualifies for a full 5-mile no-fly zone, which I think is BS. A helipad isn't an airport, and the 5-mile rule should only apply to those. I guess helipads call for extended caution and avoidance, but do not make flights impossible. Unless, of course, someone has declared an area a no-fly-zone. |
