Can I run "DJI Go" from my laptop? It's my understanding that the controller gets an access point to communicate with the "DJI Go" app. I could plug my laptop's USB port into the controller to get the access point. I have not researched if I can install the "DJI Go" or other P3P command apps on an Apple laptop or Android laptop.

Thoughts?

I have used my desktop window machine, using an android emulator called BlueStacks, which runs under the windows o.s. in place of a normal device to fly my P3Standard.  I did not try it on my Advanced, because I don't have a micro usb adaptor for my desktop machine.  But I see no reason why it would not work.  I would perhaps use an android emulator that boots up the computer to ensure stability.  There is a very good open source one called Android-x86.iso.  It is a complete Android O.S.

using ANY simulator or virtual machine will slows down whole process . In other words SIMULATOR or VIRTUAL MACHINE will create a delay (lag) in video feed.

Android x86 is NOT an emulator.  It is a complete operating system that you boot your computer into.  Android is, after all, a Linux kernel based os.

Per the thread title, let's not forget - it's the controller that controls the Phantom.  Laptops, Androids, and iOS devices don't control anything.  Just to be clear.
