Below is a picture of my unzipped new v1.2.017 firmware file as it shows on my aircraft SD card.
I'm using a Lexar 633x 16GB SD card (same which came with the aircraft)

Can some one tell me if this is as it should be???

Is it necessary to delete the PDF instruction file before installing it in my aircraft?

(can't figure out how to get it's picture on this new thread, so will insert picture directly below this post)

Just for laymen what is the root menu on the SD Card?

There are many ways to get too Your* Inspire's memory card's root directory...
But if your using say a Windows based PC then you'd
  • Open "Computer" icon on desktop.....
  • Locate your Inspire's card and (if needed) FORMAT it.... Usualy called "Removable Disc" with a drive letter....
  • RIGHT CLICK on the ICON of the card and choose from the list... "FORMAT" >> FAT32...
  • Locate the "Unzipped" Update file "WM610_FW_V01.02.00.17.Bin" file..Move or Copy or Cut & Paste it too your inspires card
  • Upon opening your card You should see just the update file you placed there after formating it (If you formated it) this is also the ROOT Directory.

If not formated then it will have other folders in the root Directory "MISC and DCIM" that should be deleted. But will be replaced
by your Inspire 1 afterwards automaticaly.

Best to keep the update file until you have run all your batteries through the machine update process as the firmware is used to update each individual intelligent battery.

Small question. Why your unziped bin file is size 83.780 KB? My unziped bin file is size 85.789 KB.
Is different between files. I am downloading from DJI downloading site.

I cannot install update to Inspire. Install update to radio controler is ok. Bird upon power installed update, but then heard after about 10 minutes long tone, and the installation is over. Text file system reports fail. According to the instructions mam again try to install, but it is already doing so after the thirtieth. The same problem has user PANOX.
I thought that I must be a bad firmware file. It would send your bin file to me?

Same. Getting fed up with this. It's taking the shine off. Thinking of Refund and waiting until it all gets sorted. I'm not prepared to wait 4 weeks to send it in for repair. They need to send me proper firmware so I can install or it's going back.

Hi Dundee
That's my understanding, apparently each intelligent battery is subject to a firmware update and will run through a quick update process if it hasn't been subjected to it before. However I checked on the 'About' update screen and firmware on both the different styles of batteries hadn't changed. I've adopted the policy which I think you posted which was to keep the original 16gb card and just use it for that sole purpose and run each battery through it.

Firmware comes in 1 package. (1 binfile)

Not sure (yet), but i believe battery is updated using the firmware already installed in the bird.
So with the sd, you update the bird.
Then the bird will update every battery as you put them in later.

Also realise that as new firmware is available, does not mean batterie firmware has changed.

Not what I know, but what I just read...
Windows cannot format a card higher that 32G as FAT32.
If your card is larger, Windows defaults to exFAT.

I would think either FAT32 or exFAT will work for the upgrade.

exFAT or FAT32 will both work for the upgrade...
And if your cards are larger than 32G, you'll have to use exFAT.
