Hi all,

Last week the app crashed on my Pro+ (it crashes quite often), but this was during flight.

In this situation that Phantom stayed where it was in the air, 4but I was slightly panicked for the app to kick in again just in case the Phantom decided to do something weird without the app on the RC functioning properly.

I'm just concerned that, one day, the app will crash badly and I'll have to restart the RC while the Phantom is in the air...in this instance what would happen to the Phantom?

Is it worth re-installing the firmware on the app (if this is possible?)

...sorry, that should say "the firmware on the RC".

If you shut the RC off during flight the Phantom will do whatever you have set for RTH.

Are you using one of the DJI recommended devices?
And you can fly the aircraft with the RC, you shouldn't need to restart the RC. If you do the aircraft will go in RTH and do what you have your RTH settings as.

Sorry, just saw that.

Make sure you are on the latest update.
If you are, try refreshing the RC firmware from the app.

Yep, all completely up to date. I think I'll do what you suggest and refresh the firmware.

The software seems quite unstable, if that's a suitable term. Simply trying to select the "track me" function caused it to crash.

OK, refresh it and see if it resolves it.

No problem, it was my bad.

It is well documented from forums users here and at phantompilots.com (myself included) that the RC + has problems with the Go 4 app causing it to hang and/or stop responding during operation.
You can try a factory reset, this may be a temporary fix.  It was only temporary for me at least.
I am Part 107 operator, fly for a broadcast television show regularly, and I have been disappointed with the performance of P4P+ when it comes to stability for professional use over the last 5 months.
DJI needs to release yet another firmware for the RC+ to squash the issues that currently plague this version of the P4P.
Hopefully DJI will address these problems (app not responding among others) very soon.
