I have insurance for my camera equipment through Photoguard. I was just wondering if there were any UK insurance companies that specialise in drones? I imagine there are a few vartiations in the T&C's compared to regular equipment. Thanks!

I wonder if you could get insurance to cover the loss of your drone or cover damage caused by your drone?

Yes,  you can. I have a million dollar liability policy on mine.  I also have a replacement policy that I will have to pony up 5% of replacement cost if needed.  There are several companies that offer insurance.  All you have to do is Google it

AMA offers liability insurance to hobbyists.

No company that I am aware of offers drone crash and replacement coverage. There are some individuals who claim they have it, but I am fairly certain these are not reproducible for various reasons. Squaretrade - and statistics - have already made it clear that the chances of loss and damage are too great to cover it for anything even approaching reasonable. The only reason ST can afford to cover smartphones, etc. is that they are ground based and Squaretrader has special quantity deals with repair and refurb depots, etc.

The chances of a hobbyists crashing or losing their drone within a year are VERY high.

Liability is one thing...but insurance for loss or crash of the drone is going to be difficult or impossible for most people. Some who already have commercial policies for cameras may be able to add their multis....until the insurance company figures out it's a losing proposition.

I received mine from Amazon and it allowed me to add insurance - their policy says accidental is covered but not negligence or loss.  I honestly don't want to find out but it bound to happen at one point regardless of how careful you are. (in NY area - don't know how it works outside the tristate area here)

I know some people have insurance through squaretrade.com. Some say they recently stopped offering insurance for Phantoms though.

My wife works for triple A and she thinks I can add it to my homeowner's policy.
Not for damage caused and liability, but for damage or loss of the quad.
I haven't looked into it yet.
