AMA offers liability insurance to hobbyists.
No company that I am aware of offers drone crash and replacement coverage. There are some individuals who claim they have it, but I am fairly certain these are not reproducible for various reasons. Squaretrade - and statistics - have already made it clear that the chances of loss and damage are too great to cover it for anything even approaching reasonable. The only reason ST can afford to cover smartphones, etc. is that they are ground based and Squaretrader has special quantity deals with repair and refurb depots, etc.
The chances of a hobbyists crashing or losing their drone within a year are VERY high.
Liability is one thing...but insurance for loss or crash of the drone is going to be difficult or impossible for most people. Some who already have commercial policies for cameras may be able to add their multis....until the insurance company figures out it's a losing proposition. |
