finally as it exists for months now

measured approximately: 470 mm (L) x 440 mm (W) x 330 mm(H), this would mean its much SMALLER

That's good to see, Machoman. Are you sure it's smaller? The Inspire 1 dimensions are: 438x451x301 mm (taken from the official specs). That'd make it a bit longer and taller.

I was really hoping for a smaller model, honestly.

Edit: There's a picture showing where the FCC logo will go here:

Inspire2.png

Looks like dual battery system is there... This also looks exactly like that one we saw leaked before.

For clarity, it will shortly be announced.

'Released' implies availability of product and fitness for purpose.

Good catch, Machoman.

Noticing the lengthened shape of the motor in the label affixing diagram, I trust the Inspire 2 will be able to take a higher payload - for dual battery system?

I think it's really a shame it isn't smaller and doesn't seem to fold up... That'd be the perfect drone for me. I want something that can hold a decent M4/3 camera with changeable lenses, fits in a normal backpack and has around 20 minutes of flight time. The Mavic has too many issues and the Phantom 4 is too big and you see the rotors in the shot when going fast.

I suppose it makes sense, the Phantom line hasn't changed much through the years so why would the Inspire line change dramatically? They made a new line (Mavic) when they wanted to try something else (folding design).

Mavic has too many issues? Do you have one? I do and its effectively a P4 replacement. I did not think so at first but that aircraft is little short of amazing. The I fly it the more I realise how much of a game changer this little craft is.

The Inspire can be carried on a hiking backpack. You just have to be willing to lug that thing around. The Mavic is so compact and light you can RUN carrying it on a track.

600 mm diagonal. Hence its T600 designation.

I don't have one because the DJI staff at the store had issues with their unit not holding position and losing connection at about 5-10m away. They seemed very reluctant to demonstrate it and kept suggesting that I wait or get a P3A instead.

I was really excited about the Mavic and even after seeing the posts here and on YouTube I wasn't really put off but to see it having issues - exactly where the P4 and Inspire 1 they were also demonstrating to other people were absolutely fine - gave me pause.

They were happy to let me try the P4 (I didn't) but wouldn't let me try the Mavic, even after I showed them my Inspire 1 flight record. The rep said something about the vision positioning, I didn't really understand that part.

Well, I've flown indoors without problems. I can hand catch the bird indoors and out from the top and the positioning is rock solid. Its unreal once it settles on a lock. DO NOT attempt to hand catch from the bottom as the VPS sensors will cause the aircraft to go upwards as you approach.

You must have some patterning or roughness on the floor for VPS to work so maybe that's what the store folks were concerned about.

Glad to hear you're not having issues. I'm hoping it's just software related but I'm holding off for now. If I do get one and it has issues, it's not a big problem to just go to the service centre for me but many people don't have that option...

I'm also waiting to see if DJI has any surprises in store for the 15th.

My Inspire 1 still works, and is an amazing machine. Don't care to much about the beta obstacle avoidance system and FPV camera for second operator. Only thing that interests me is longer flight times. Other than that, I'll hold off until Inspire 3 is released.

Very interesting that the staff could not get  there's to work properly .

Well, these were staff in one of the DJI showrooms in Shenzhen. They didn't seem particularly well prepared and were blaming the GPS (despite there being 16 locked) for the fact it was drifting (when it was trying to hover about 2m above the ground on a sunny day over dark grey and white tiled floor, it couldn't have been much more clear for the VPS...).

They were also paranoid about losing the signal, which I thought was very strange...

Anyway, not to make this about the Mavic, my Inspire 1 VPS never worked in all the time I had it. Without a GPS lock, it never held position. Even indoors on a black and white floor it'd drift constantly, same outdoors if it didn't have a GPS lock. I know at least two others with the same issue and I've never met anyone with an Inspire that can actually hold position with VPS alone.

The sonar worked for altitude but the VPS just never did... I'll have to see the Inspire 2 in action before I'd rely on it being able to hold position with cameras.

I thought in China , the Home of DJI would have some top notch employees .  Here in the  United States the call center for DJI help is seriously in need of training , they can only answer the most basic of questions .  At least we have DJI , Ken , Jamie , Tim  that can answer questions with a degree of professionalism .

Hopefully the support stafff will catch up to the great Product that DJI  offer .

Peace and Prosperity to  you and your family in China .

Well, with the exception of the flagship store (where they seem to have some very knowledgeable staff), most of the staff know all the marketing terms and that's about it. They're salespeople, not drone enthusiasts. Think of those 1990s computer stores.

I'm not actually from China but thanks anyway.

EDIT: While it's on my mind, the stores tend to have demo units so I'll try to go there as soon as the Inspire 2 is out and get a good look at it.

I will, but I suspect the reviewers will get them in advance and have their articles/photos/videos ready to publish when the announcement is made like they did with the Mavic. I know of at least one reviewer in this situation, currently under NDA...

So basic Inspire 2 is $2,999 without any camera other than a built-in FPV.

Only option shown so far with camera, the X5S along with the license keys for CinemaDNG and Apple Pro Res makes it $5,999.00.

Upward sensor. Speed 67 MPH.  Flights to -4 degrees due to internal battery heater.  Two cameras, one non-DNG (The X4S), and other has DNG/RAW files (X5S) are both 20 MP now?

Prices on cameras: Zenmuse X5S $1,899.  Zensmuse X5S excluding camera lens $1,399.  Zenmuse X4S $599.
Battery $159.

Guessing the cheaper Inspire 2 with the X4S camera setup to be about $3,598 ??

Pre-orders only so maybe Dec. or early 2017.

One thing i don't like is that you can't upgrade the Inspire 1 with the new X5S camera because of the build in SSD... and you can't even use it on the OSMO!

Possibly because the X4S doesn't have a zoom function... But the specs put it as the better camera overall, surely? I'm not sure why the Z3 is still priced higher.
