Hi there, may I know which generation do you refer to? Please note that the first generation is not on the support device list which means it is not compatible with DJI GO 4. Please refer to the supported device list below. Hope it helps. devide support list.png

Ipad Mini 4 is very good If you want to use the gps features of the mini 4 you will need the LTE version as the gps is part of the phone chip. You donot need a contract or phone service though

Also it will fit in the arms of the controller

If/when I need that feature, i use a Bluetooth gps with my mini 4 ( Garmin glo ). But 99% of the time, this is not needed for me

I've used my WiFi-only mini 4, which advantageously fits in the holder quote nicely. (However recently bought a Crystalsky 5.5", which doesn't but the screen is amazing)

Yes

However, the small cable that comes with the Mavic Air is too short. So you will have to use another one that  you can connect or on the side ( micro usb ) or a the bottom of the remote ( tradionnal USB plug )

Please refer to the answer on 12#, the cable that came with the RC might be too short to connect a tablet, you can use your device's original cable for connecting. Please note that you need to unplug the left cable when connecting to the bottom port.

Hi Dennis, how do you fit the iPad Mini to the AIR remote control?
I tried doing it on mine and the Mini is at least 3/4" wider than the fully extended arms.

It will fit if you open the holders all the way on an angle. I have a video on this. Fits like a glove!

you can do it exactly like this just take out the little plastic square that holds the cable in normally as well

The mavic Pro and Air remotes are exactly the same size

Of course you can, still use DJI Go 4 app anyway, LTE is not necessary. I've been using my iPad Mini wifi and works great.
