Hey guys I bought a refurbished p3A and I took for first flight and left it on beginner mode , but every now and then it would say aircraft out of range is this normal as it is only 30m away

Hi Big kevo, thanks for reaching DJI Forum. Sorry for the troubles you had recently with your aircraft. Let me help you with this. As Nebuchadnezzar is saying, that is correct. You may be at the Beginner Mode. Kindly check the photo provided at post #3 for your reference. In Beginner Mode, aircraft will only fly at restricted speed within a radius of 30 meters around the Home Point, and the motors of aircraft can not be start if GPS signal is not strong enough. Set Max Flight Distance, it is recommended to set the maximum flight height within 120 meters. Comply with local laws and regulations when flying an aircraft at a height higher than 120 meters.  Maximum value we can set is 500 meters. (for some product if are controlled by mobile device directly via Wi-Fi, this value can't be changed, for example: Spark, mavic air) Enable Max Distance , when Enable Max Distance is turned on, the maximum flight distance can be set from 15 to 5000 meters. When it is turned off, there is no limit on flight distance.  When Enable Max Distance is turned on, the maximum flight distance for different products may vary, please refer to user manual for more details.  Should you have any concerns, don't hesitate to reach us. Turned off beginner mode and she’s all good, cheers guys.
Now I just need to learn to fly
