I recently bought a dji matrice 30t drone and the signal is really bad and there isn't a fix I can find I tried buying a 4hawks signal extender but it barely did anything, the drone disconnects at 450m from my backyard does anybody know a solution to this please let me know

Note the drone is on FCC mode

Hi there , thank you for reaching out. You could please follow the below steps to troubleshoot, thanks.

1. Manually control the machine to land in time and change another place to restart the machine and re-test.

2. Check the star search situation in the current environment, whether the amount of compass interference is normal, and try to restart the compass calibration.

3. If the issue still persists after changing places multiple times, it is suggested to double-check the RTK Antenna, RF and Aviation. Thanks.

Something not right there. I easily get 2-3 km in rural areas, maybe 1 km in more urban settings with my Matrice M30.
However, if I'm within 500 meters of a cell tower, my range drops to around 500 meters.
Is it possible there is RF interference where you are at?
What does the signal strength graph show for 2.4 and 5 GHz bands when you are flying?

With my matrice 30t I can get 2-5km easily on top of a mountain but from my backyard the drone disconnects at 450m

Are there trees between you and the drone?

I also did the exact same test with my mini 4 pro which it got 700m

I found that trees can significantly compromise the signal because of the water in them. I recently launched near a park and couldn't fly beyond 1300 feet before losing the video feed. When I lose the link when there are trees between me and the drone, I fly up as high as legally possible to get a clear line of sight to the drone. That usually restores the link and allows me to fly further when necessary.

This makes sense. Your Mini 4 Pro has the new Ocusync 4 transmission protocols which are better than the Ocusync 3 in our Matrice drones.

Yeah which is unfortunate since I think dji should be better technology into antennas and transmission for enterprise drones or adleast offer upgrades

Our Matrice 30 drones were released in March 2022 with the best transmission system available at the time. The Mini 4 Pro was released Sept. 2023 - 1-1/2 years later and has the latest transmission system available.

New technology didn't render our Mat 30 drones obsolete, but it did allow for better transmission distances for the new drones. This is the way fortunately since that means that there is always improvement, and at some point, we will upgrade to newer more capable equipment.

Some things can be upgraded - like a 350 for example that can carry different (and upgradeable) packages from cameras to lidar. This should be the way with our Matrice 30 drones as well to allow for newer tech cameras without having to buy new drones.

The transmission technology is a different animal though. To make it upgradeable, you would have to completely replace the radio module electronics in the drone and the controller. These aren't usually plug in parts since they share power and data buses with the CPU electronics for weight savings and reliability.

This would be like wanting your iPhone 6 to be upgradeable in the field to an iPhone 15. It would require the wholesale replacement of many expensive parts and wouldn't be worth it.

For your situation, it would be useful to try to track down exactly what was compromising your transmission range and try to mitigate that as much as possible.

Also the mavic 3 enterprise signal is relatively the same as the dji mini 4 pro and the mavic 3 enterprise was released 1 month ish later

Well the Mavic 3E uses Ocusync 3 and the Mini 4 Pro uses Ocusync 4 so they're not the same.
Did you mean to say that the transmission range in your experience is about equal?

Yes it was very similar

Non ha senso quello che dici pure noi di CROCEROSSA abbiamo un M30 con gli stessi problemi di trasmissione e feed video ma nn è ammissibile per un drone da 15 Milà euro, che un albero possa ostacolare il mio segnale,

It might not make sense but it's physics. Here's a link that might shed some light.

This might be a physical explanation for the phenomenon, but it does not explain why the transmission performance with a new remote control (€1500!) is much worse than with an older model. The M300RTK is currently not really usable for us because we did an upgrade for €13,500 (L2 & RC+).

And here is no support or clear information about this issue.

I've never had a signal loss with the DJI dongle in my Matrice M30 and RC+ controller. From the description of your issues, it really looks like there's a problem with your controller. Perhaps a noisy power supply somewhere in the unit is throwing out enough RF to compromise your signal integrity.
