So I finally bit the bullet and updated from FW v1.8.1.00 to v1.9.1.30.

I've been out for two test flights and both times the video signal keeps dropping or I get green banding or it freezes for a few seconds or only half of the video shows on the iPad. It doesn't matter if the inspire is 1m away or 100m, same story. The signal strength seems excellent and there were no obstructions.

Incredibly frustrating and makes it difficult/impossible to get any work done. I didn't have any issues with v1.8.1.00, the signal way always rock solid. I even updated my USB cables to ANKER just recently to ensure a good connection from transmitter to iPad (yes I did try my old cables too, same dropouts).

Has anyone had this happen? I'm waiting for DJI support to come online, but any advice in the mean time would be much appreciated.

If this has been posted before please give me a link, I did have a good look though.

Cheers.

EDIT - This is with the Inspire Pro, X5.

yes DJI have said and done nothing my craft lost signal straight after new fw update and Failed to RTH when set correctly and and Failed to connect to craft while during flight. The power ran down on the battery as the craft did NOT respond to anything i tried to reconnect to craft. As i was filming near the sea it landed in a rock pool...... ( i could not access at the time due to the tide) 23 weeks now it has been with DJI and only now they are saying to me it is water damage!!!!!! ( I'AM NOT VERY HAPPY ) as there are lots of issues with new firmware and SIGNAL LOSS from lees than 200m away i should add also.

Sorry to hear that mate, but my issue is only with the video link, not the RC signal. I did testing after the update and the flight controls and RTH works fine. I always film my first flight after an update just to be safe

I have this issue too, downgraded RC, and craft to the previous versions, still the same. This would suggest a hardware issue, as firmware changes nothing. However, my problems only started after the latest firmware upgrade, so I'm wondering if that within the latest firmware, was a permanent file that remains even after a downgrade? Too many people have the same issue, all after upgrading to the latest firmware, so it can't be hardware, can it?

I downgraded the FW to the pervious version and then re-upgraded to the 1.9.1.30 and my initial testing was successful. No dropouts. I'll run through a few more batteries today and put it through its paces.

Yes, there are many threads discussing this issue and DJI R&D is working on a solution. Meanwhile most folks are downgrading the RC to 1.6 and AC to 1.81.

I rolled back to version 1.8 from 1.9 and carefully went over the logs from my ORIGINAL  1.8 Log and compared it to the ROLLBACK version  1.8 and found them to be identical .

Were you able to rollback the AC from 1.9 to an earlier version than 1.8 ?  if so How , it was my understanding that this could not be done , not saying you didn't just wondering How.

My problems are with the X5.

I have seen a few guys reporting this issue with the X5, but it seems to be more with the X3 / Z3 series cameras.

I believe the X5 camera has a stand alone ((camera only FW)) update that can be downgraded. Have you tried that? I think Donnie was going to try this on another thread. At least this could by you some time until the new FW is finished.

DJI is working on the FW and we are waiting for them to release the fix. They have not commented on the extent of the changes needed or what aircraft will be involved so far.

I was having the same issue you describe in your original post. I experienced the issue when I had the video channel mode set to Auto. If I had it on Manual and selected one of the channels with no interference, I had no problems at all.

Hmm that's an interesting idea. I do have it on Auto only because it's always worked for me. The odd thing is as soon as I did all the upgrades while the bird and RC was still on my table the signal was bad, but minutes before it was fine on 1.8.

If it starts happening again I'll look at switching channels!

MS, that is great news and I am assuming you are using the X5 camera. Have you tested it with the X3 to? Or you are only using the X5 camera...

I am hoping the DJI will release the new FW fix soon. They must be focused on their new drone release and or they are fixing other stuff at the same time which is delaying  the FW release......

TB47 battery with 18 charge cycles
AC 1.81
RC 1.6
iOS 10.02
Go App 2.92
iPad mini 4 cell/Wi-Fi version 128gig
Inspire 1 V2 X3 with SanDisk extreme plus 32gig U3 HC1

new cable (original Apple cable) today and cooler temperatures 80*F,  first flight went about 8 min with hardly any drop outs. Then it started. So I parked into a hover and checked the HD signal and it was on channel 14 with the slider in the worse position. So I went to manual and put it on channel 10 with the best signal transmission. No more drop outs for the rest of the flight of 4mins.
just updated the new DJI Go App 3.0 but have not tried it yet.

PS, I just flew an 13 minute flight today with the 2.92 Go App on my iPad mini 4 with new cable and video HD set in manual mode on channel 14 (in my area) cooler weather no drop outs at all.

So, I have the new Go App 3.0 loaded on my iPhone 7 and will try this tomorrow also. I see some issues being reported with the gimbal leveling feature missing etc. But I have not tried this yet.

Cheers for the update. It's been too windy/rainy to fly where I am the past week so I have't done any more testing.

So my Inspire Pro went in for a service and they updated the firmware to v1.9.1.30 from 1.8, so I gave it another go.

The signal warning popped up again, but this time as per the forums advice I tried setting the frequency manually. I was surprised to see that all channels were weak, even though I was in an area that I always go for testing and has always been rock solid on v1.8. I then went to an open space specifically for RC flying and even though I was the only one there the signal on all channels was weak. I checked the Kp index and it was very low that day, so it's not that either.

Am I the only one having this problem with the X5? I see there was a FW update for the Z3 to solve this issue but not for the X5.

I've been having the same problem with my Inspire 1 Pro, signal loss on every flight. I called DJI and was told to downgrade FW on RC & AC, deleted DJI APP and reload. Updated FW on AC first, reload APP and lastly upgraded the RC to the latest FW. I took it for a test flight and all worked well for 2 flights then all went down hill, lost Signal, screen blanking out, turning green...Too many people are having the same issues, there must be a FW to resolved this defect in the making... DJI Please fix!!!!

The best combination in my opinion is 1.8 on the AC  and Camera   .  On the RC stay at 1.6 and the current Go APP for the Apple devices works the best in my humble opinion .
So if you are at 1.6 stay there .  DJI does not state ALL changes in there PDF for each upgrade , I leaned this the hardway .  Stay with the combo most of us are recommending  and this  seems to be the  consensus among the seasoned veterans here .

It works the treat if you ask me.

Thanks for that. I noticed a few times now it won't hold in a mild breeze in gps, keeps drifting and when I put full throttle in to come back it hardly moved forward, it's never been like that but I don't really go out on windy days. But others have this issue to. I just wish DJI would fix an issue without making others!
