Anyone know why my new 32gb SanDisk Ultra chip doesn't work in my Phantom 3 Standard?  I keep getting an SD error.  I have formated the chip on a windows machine and a mac.  I can not get it to work.  Any ideas or tips?

Try formatting it to exFat - not sure why but i had seen some comments on this being the right format for the Phantom 3.. Kind Regards

I had the same issues with that same card in the same bird. It's not uncommon to run into card issues formatting a card of a different device than being used on. Format the card using the P3 camera and see if that helps.

FYI: This didn't work in my case and had to switch cards...I used the exact same type card, reformatted it and everything works great.

The correct procedure is to format the card in the camera. If you format it in a computer the question arises as to what format to use. The camera knows the correct format.

The other issue is that the Sandisk Ultra is on the lower border of speed ratings for use in the Phantom, while it may work in a Standard, it would not work in an Advanced or Pro.

Oops, just noticed he's using Ultras.

You want to run Extremes. Now with that said, the difference between the cards should only be an issue during filming and not prior to start up. DJI is the only camera I've run into this situation. Anyhow, you want something like the below....make sure write speed it 90mb or higher.

I run the Sandisk Ultra 64gig and formatted it thru the DJI go app and it works fine.  Try to reformat the card thru the app; if it will allow it

Ya, like I said, either card should still work.

Extremes are preferred for their faster writing speeds. Error or no error, I would still recommend extremes.

Thanks all... never got the SanDisk Ultra to work... tried to format in the quad but it errors out.  I purchased two of the Sandisks and neither work.  Switched to PNY and it worked find.  Very strange.

Strange for sure, the DJI camera system is very quirky.

The Sandisk ULTRA has been problematic on the forums with numerous similar issues. So you're not alone:

I have had you same issue. I bought a 64gb ultra and no matter what I tried the drone would never complete its initionalizarion test. Always invalid card displayed. People were trying to tell me on this forum that I was doing something wrong or that something was wrong with drone. Funny thing is that I'm a aircraft mechanic and I troubleshoot problems for a living. The answer is this. The Sandisk ultra series cards are not compatible with this drone. Those of you that get it to work have a card that is running slightly above its rated spec. You got lucky. To be sake buy a Sandisk extreme or similar spec card.
