Can someone from Dji please explain why the app is using 25mb per day in the background. What is it doing? It used up all my 4g allowance in just 2 weeks and Ive only used it a few times. Estimate I will need 750mb per month just to have it installed, my current plan is only 500

Yes, it is known for this. Untidy programming leaves a bunch of services running that chat to the DJI web site and a number of other places if you leave it running. After using it, you have to close down the app and possibly re-start your phone to shut it up.

Can background mobile access not be disabled ,  which handset do you use ?

The app works perfectly with no data usage at all on wifi-only tablets.
There is no need for any internet connection to fly with the app.
If you have a data leakage situation happening, simply disable mobile data when you are flying or fly in airplane mode (how appropriate)

Thanks for your tips, I've disabled background data for the app and I think it has stopped it. I like to have 4g when flying so it keeps the map up to date, haven't worked out the cache yet..

Try installing the app "NoRoot Firewall" - then nothing is getting data from your device unless you allow it. You'd be amazed how many of the apps you have installed are using your data connection without you even knowing
