Hi, on my flights yesterday evening I was receiving a warning of class d? Is it possible to find out more information about this warning? I am not close an any airport so would be good to know what the warning is for....

Many thanks

Hello dj, this may be a notification of our GEO system. Have a look here :http://forum.dji.com/thread-57551-1-1.html

Maybe this helps http://www.dji.com/flysafe/geo-system/map , all sorts of stuff marked on there. Looks like airports get a 5km radius, and also lots of little airports dotted around that you may have never seen. You'll have to google code you get from the map.

Thanks for the info about the map. It looks like where you can fly is being shut down rapidly. Model Aircraft hobbyists never had all this to deal with. Makes you wonder if the Drone industry/hobbyist is getting kicked in the teeth, and will rapidly disappear within the next couple of years. Alternatively, commercial interests (like Amazon) want to claim the airspace below 400 feet as their own.

Think a lot of the green circles are just advisory. The problem with that is every time I fly I get a warning so just close them now with out bothering to read what it says. Too many warnings and people end up ignoring all of them. Defeats the point.

As for the model aircraft hobbyists I think they were always quite nerdy and officious and kept to their fields and the rules. They were more interested in 'straight and level flight' and pretending it was a real aircraft. Think the droners want to explore a bit more and just have fun. Guess it's much easier to buy a drone online and have it flying out of the box. The model aircraft people really don't like drone flyers.

Amazon will never be allowed to deliver by drone, it just doesn't make any sense. First person view over congested areas, never! People will just steal their drones as soon as it tries to land. But money does talk, if you want to pay for a course then pay CAA some more money each year you can get away with a lot more and break lots of the rules.
